“Oh, I'm so happy that you are not hurt. Please don't ever scare me like that again. You had me really worried.” “I know Mom”, said Caity. “I was just trying to be a big girl. I wanted an adventure. I know that I should never have come here without telling you. I'm sorry.”
“That's ok sweet pea…I'm just glad you are safe. And we have this little Kitty to thank for it. By the way, where did she come from? I don't recall ever seeing her before.” Caity hesitated then blurted out “I saved her, mom. Her parents were killed and she was all alone. I heard some men talking about taking her away, and I just couldn't let that happen to her, so I brought her home and let her stay in the shed. Can I keep her Mom? Pleeeease can I keep her?” Caity's mother thought for a moment and then smiled. “Well Caitlin, you know that your father and I have never been too fond of cats, but she is awfully cute and she did help me to find you. I am very grateful to her for that.” “Does that mean that she can stay with us? Oh please say she can stay”, asked Caity excitedly. “Alright, I suppose she can. “Oh thank you Mom…you won't regret it, I promise.” “Alright honey”, she said as she stroked Caity's hair. “We've all had enough
adventure for one day. Let's go home”.
Kitty followed at their heels, smiling her biggest, happiest smile.
At long last she had found a real home and a brand new family to love.
